De Vlierstee
De Vlierstee is a natural-food shop in a former farmhouse at Hogeweg 7, just outside Vierpolders on Voorne-Putten, run by the same family since 1978, which sells organic and biodynamic groceries from the shop, through a webshop and by its own delivery van.
The range covers vegetables and fruit, which their website says are grown locally wherever possible, meat and dairy, bread baked fresh daily, dry goods, and diet products for people avoiding gluten, lactose, wheat or soy. Their website says more than 90 percent of the dry goods and all of the fresh produce carry an organic label; the shop is certified (SKAL) for sale and preparation, and we found the certificate in the register at this address. No farms are named, so everything here is judged by its certificate rather than by anything we checked about how it was grown. A vegetable subscription is also offered.
The shop is open Tuesday to Thursday from 9:00 to 17:30, Fridays from 9:00 to 20:00 and Saturdays from 9:00 to 17:00, and closed on Sundays and Mondays. Webshop orders are delivered to postcodes 3160 to 3259 on three weekly rounds: Nissewaard and Hoogvliet on Wednesday afternoons, Voorne aan Zee on Friday evenings and Goeree-Overflakkee on Thursday afternoons, each with its own order deadline earlier in the week.
The delivery van is fully electric and is charged from the shop's own solar panels.
