Hallo Koe Holding
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
Hallo Koe is a dairy farm on the Hellerweg in Putten that turns its own cows' milk into milk, yoghurt, quark (kwark), buttermilk and kefir on the farm and sells them through local shops.
The range is whole and semi-skimmed milk, a set yoghurt, quark made from milk and a culture only, a raspberry drinking yoghurt, chocolate milk made with real cocoa, and a kefir with a little strawberry, made from skimmed milk with an original kefir culture. The buttermilk is churned the old way, from soured milk with the fat churned out as butter. Their website says no E-numbers or added sugar go into the quark, and it does not say whether the milk is pasteurised. The cows decide for themselves through the day when to eat, be milked or lie down, and in summer they go outside to graze. The farm has chosen not to be SKAL-certified, saying the label would restrict how it is run and says nothing about the health of the cows.
The dairy is sold through stockists rather than at the farm: Plus Wilmink and Pannekoeken Huifkar in Putten, Jumbo Veltink in Nijkerk, Plus Berntsen in Ermelo, BoerenPitstop in Zeewolde and Verstrade in Utrecht.
The cows eat as much grass from the land around the farm as possible, and their milk is processed under the same roof instead of going to a factory.
