Made By Ellen is a sourdough (desem) bakery with its own shop at Pieter Kiesstraat 78A in Haarlem.

The breads are shaped by hand and take more than 24 hours from start to finish, and the bakery also makes cinnamon buns, pizzettes, a chocolate sourdough cake and a currant bun (krentenbol) leavened with 100% sourdough; at Easter there is a sourdough stollen with almond paste. Their website says everything is made with local, organic ingredients but names neither the flour nor the mill. Whether every loaf is made without added baker's yeast isn't stated.

Orders can be placed ahead through the Made By Ellen website, and the bakery always bakes extra for walk-in customers, so the shop, which also serves coffee, is worth a visit without an order. It opens Tuesday to Saturday at 8:00 and closes at 14:00 on Tuesdays and Saturdays and at 15:00 from Wednesday to Friday.
