Slagerij De Groene Weg is an organic butcher's shop on the Asselsestraat in Apeldoorn, one of the shops of De Groene Weg, which has sold organic meat since 1981.
The counter has beef, pork, lamb and chicken, and the butcher makes most products in the shop, including liver sausage (leverworst), boiled sausage, soups and five kinds of raw cured ham, among them a Veluwse nootham. Their website names two regional farms, those of the Hillebrand and Van der Berg families, without saying which animals come from which. Across the chain's farms the animals can go outside whenever they want and eat organically grown feed. The shop is certified organic (SKAL); we found its certificate in the register. Which fresh offal and bones are on the counter, we couldn't confirm.
The shop is open Tuesday from 9:00 to 18:00, Wednesday to Friday from 8:30 to 18:00 and Saturday from 8:30 to 16:00, and closed on Sunday and Monday; in 2026 it closed for three weeks from late July. De Groene Weg also has a webshop for the whole chain.
The manure from the chain's farms goes back onto organic fields, so the feed and the meat stay within one organic loop.
