BioKleiweg
BioKleiweg is an organic and biodynamic food shop on the Kleiweg in Rotterdam Noord that carries a full range of daily groceries.
The bread comes in fresh every day from Bakkerij van der Westen, which they describe as an organic bakery working with sourdough. Vegetables and fruit carry organic or Demeter labels, partly through the wholesalers Odin and Udea, and apples, pears and plums come from the grower Lindegaard. Meat comes from Hoeve Biesland, which their website says raises its animals with respect for nature and animal welfare; how those animals are kept and fed, we couldn't confirm. The cheese is from Bastiaansen, Marienwaerdt and Zuiver Zuivel, the other dairy from biodynamic farmers, the honey from De Traay, which they describe as an organic beekeeper that also sells honey from other continents, and the kitchen herbs from Het Blauwe Huis, with seaweed, gluten-free and vegan products besides. The shop is certified organic (SKAL); we found it in the register.
The shop is open Monday from 11:00 to 18:00 and Tuesday to Saturday from 8:00 to 18:00, and is closed on Sunday.
BioKleiweg has been selling natural food in Rotterdam for more than 30 years and buys mainly from small-scale farmers and makers.
