Biowinkel Nachtegaalstraat Utrecht

Biowinkel on the Nachtegaalstraat in Utrecht is an independent organic grocery, part of the small Biowinkel group, stocking a full weekly shop of organic fresh produce, dairy, bread and dry goods.

The shop is certified organic (SKAL); we found it in the register under the name Shelter Organics Utrecht B.V. Several local producers are on the shelves. Sourdough bread comes from Bakkerij De Veldkeuken on the Rhijnauwen estate, where the grain is bought from growers in the area and most of it is milled at the bakery, and the dough is given time to rise and shaped by hand. Dairy arrives weekly from De Hondspol, a biodynamic care farm on the edge of Driebergen-Rijsenburg. The bread counter carries a long list of other sourdough loaves in wheat, spelt and rye.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 to 20:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 to 19:00. Bread and pastries can be reserved through their website and paid for in the shop, and on Wednesdays after 15:00 members of Tuinderij De Volle Grond collect their vegetable bags here.

The shop plays no music and runs no loud promotions on the shop floor.
