Boerderijwinkel de Blaak
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
Boerderijwinkel De Blaak is a beef farm on the Blaakweg in Harskamp with a farm shop, where a father and son keep 150 to 200 beef cattle and sell the meat themselves.
The herd is mainly Verbeterd Roodbont and Belgian Blue, with some Blonde d'Aquitaine, and only young female animals are slaughtered for the shop. The cattle go out onto the pasture whenever the weather allows and get extra feed when needed; their website says the feed contains nothing genetically modified, the animals are given time to grow without growth promoters, and no antibiotics are given preventively. Beyond the steaks and mince, the order list includes marrow bones, beef shin, oxtail, beef and pork liver, beef and pork tongue, pork cheeks and pork trotters. The shop also sells pork labelled scharrel (higher-welfare indoor-outdoor housing), chicken from a regional farm shop, and eggs, honey and juice from other producers, none of which we have checked yet.
You order with the form on their website and collect at the farm, paying in the shop or online, and there is always frozen meat, sealed straight after cutting. The shop is open Fridays from 10:00 to 17:00 and Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00, other times by arrangement.
The farm butchers its own meat, so the whole carcass, down to the tongue and tail, ends up on the order list.
