GoodyFood
- Organic methods: no synthetic pesticides or fertiliser, not certified
GoodyFood is an organic supermarket on the Noordse Bosje in Hilversum, run by the same family for more than 40 years, where everything on the shelves is at least organic, or Demeter, fair trade or ecological. The shop itself is certified organic (SKAL); we found it in the register.
The fresh produce is organic, and the shop has stocked forgotten vegetables (vergeten groenten) such as parsnip, turnip greens and salsify for years, with Demeter carrots among the range. Bread comes daily from Van Der Westen Organic Family Bakery, which bakes on a granite oven floor, and the range includes sourdough as well as yeasted loaves, some finished in the shop's own oven; loaves can be ordered by email and put aside. The cheese counter has organic and Demeter cheeses from cow, goat, sheep and buffalo milk. A weekly bag of seasonal organic vegetables and fruit with recipes, the Vitatas, can be arranged in the shop.
The shop is open on Monday from 10:00 to 18:00, Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 to 18:00 and Saturday from 8:00 to 17:15.
Many of the cheeses are made from pasteurised milk, so the raw-milk cheeses are a separate range that is worth asking for at the counter.
