Hoogenboom Boeren Zuivel is a dairy farm on the Damweg in Oudewater, in the Groene Hart, where the family has turned the milk of its own cows into yoghurt since 1986.
The farm has about 250 dairy cows, and their website says they receive fresh grass from the farm's own land every day from spring to autumn; it doesn't say whether the cows graze it in the field or have it brought to them. The family runs the whole chain from the grass on the land to the packed yoghurt. What began as a sideline to the dairy farm has grown into a yoghurt business with its own production, logistics and sales team. The company is in the SKAL register, certified for processing and trade; we found the entry, though their website doesn't say which of their products are organic.
Their website lists no farm shop or retail outlets, and the farm's listed hours, Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 17:00, look like office hours, so ask before driving out.
The yoghurt is made on the same farm where the cows are milked, which keeps the route from cow to pot as short as it can be.
