Imkerij Bijman
Imkerij Bijman is a beekeeping business in Lopik, running since 2011, with apiaries in Jaarsveld, Lopik and Cabauw where honeybees are kept for pollination, for honey and to build up the number of colonies.
The honey is Dutch honey from those three villages, sold in 450-gram jars, and comes from one or more of these sources: willow, pear, cherry, apple, chestnut, lime and summer flowers. Because honey is a seasonal product, it is easiest to get from June to September. They also sell candles of pure beeswax, small amounts of purified beeswax for homemade cosmetics or beeswax wraps, and small amounts of propolis.
The honey can be bought at the beekeeper's home on the Wilgestraat in Lopik, on weekday evenings from 18:00 to 19:00 and on Saturday from 9:00 to 17:00. It is also sold at De Wilgensprong in Willige Langerak and at De Bee's Hive in Utrecht.
The beekeeper also collects honeybee swarms in the area around Schoonhoven, Cabauw, Lopik, Jaarsveld and Uitweg, preferably just before sunset when most of the bees have gathered in the cluster.
