La Cosina
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
La Cosina is an ice-cream parlour on the Dorpsstraat in Renkum that has made its own ice cream since 2000, in its current building at number 12 since 2013.
The milk ice cream is made with pasture milk (weidemelk) that the parlour collects fresh every day from De Boersberg, a farm in Doorwerth. Their website says the other ingredients are organic or sustainably sourced where possible, though the parlour itself holds no organic certificate. Alongside the milk ice cream they make their own dairy-free sorbet, with a set of fixed flavours and a few that change.
You buy at the counter, which is open every day until 20:00, from 14:00 on Mondays and from 12:00 on the other days. Ten-scoop cards and gift vouchers are sold in the shop, and an allergen list is on their website, since all flavours are made in the same room.
The grazing claim behind the milk comes from the parlour's own pages, not from De Boersberg, so the farm is the place to ask how its cows are kept.
