Polderbijen
Polderbijen is a beekeeping business in Wijdewormer whose hives stand in the Wijdewormer polder and around Purmerend and Zaandam, so the honey is a product of the surrounding area.
The honey is gathered by their own bees and extracted and clarified by the beekeeper in a new hygiene room in the bee barn. It comes as liquid honey and as crystallised creamed honey, and at the beekeepers' guild show in West-Beemster on 2 May 2026 both won a certificate. Comb honey is sold in a tub or as a whole comb of about a kilo, which needs a phone call in advance. They also sell candles of pure beeswax, royal jelly on its own or mixed at 10% into acacia honey, and gift baskets of bee products; their website does not say whether the acacia honey comes from their own hives.
Honey can be bought at the beekeeper's home in Wijdewormer after calling ahead, and in three shops: Simonehoeve in Katwoude, Peter Smit AGF at Zuiderweg 81 in the Beemster, and TastofLandsmeer in Landsmeer. Tours and workshops in making candles and beeswax wraps are given in the bee barn for groups of four or more.
