Viswinkel De Lange is a fishmonger on the Marcelisstraat in Den Haag, near Scheveningen, whose Gillardeau oysters, farmed by the Gillardeau family in France and rated green on the VISwijzer, are the one line that passed our fish check.

The rest of the counter is bought each morning at the Scheveningen fish auction and from Denmark and Norway, their website says, without stating species origin or fishing method, so that range, from fresh, smoked and fried fish to salmon and tuna sashimi, Dutch shrimp, scallop meat and a second, Umami-branded oyster, is unverified, and the smoked eel they also sell is a species our check marks red.

Fish is sold over the counter; opening hours are not on their website.

The oysters are farmed shellfish from a named producer, which is what lets them clear our bar where fish without a stated origin cannot.
