Practices beyond what our criteria ask for. What counts
In their words · translated
“Wij maken sinds 2020 geen gebruik meer van chemie of kunstmeststoffen. We zetten in op verschillende grassoorten, kruiden en klavers onze weilanden zien er kleurrijk uit! Onze koeien lopen in de wei zodra en zolang de draagkracht van de bodem dit toelaat.”
Since 2020 we no longer use chemicals or synthetic fertilisers. We focus on different grass species, herbs and clovers, our meadows look colourful! Our cows are out in the meadow as soon as and for as long as the bearing capacity of the soil allows.
“Hier maken wij zelf rauwmelkse kaas. [...] Onze rauwe melk [melktap] en boerenkaas kunt u alle dagen tussen 7 uur en 19 uur in ons melkhuis door zelfbediening met pin kopen.”
Here we make raw-milk cheese ourselves. [...] Our raw milk [milk tap] and farm cheese can be bought every day between 7 and 19 o'clock in our milk house by self-service, paying by card.

Zuivelboerderij de Brummenaer is a dairy farm on the Cortenoeverseweg near Brummen that sells raw milk and its own raw-milk cheese from a self-service milk house.

The cows go out to pasture as soon as and for as long as the ground can carry them. Their website says no chemicals or synthetic fertiliser have been used since 2020, and the meadows are sown with a mix of grasses, herbs and clovers. The cows eat mainly grass, and in winter silage, hay, fodder beet and some barley; extra feed is grain, beans and fodder beet the farm grows by organic methods, plus food by-products such as steamed carrot peel and brewer's grains. Since 2025 the herd has gone down from 180 to 120 cows under an extensification scheme. Their website says the farm becomes organic in November 2026, with biodynamic to follow; it holds no organic certificate, and what qualifies it here is the grazing and the years without synthetics. The milk is made into raw-milk boerenkaas (farm cheese) on the farm; hazelnuts and walnuts are also grown, not yet confirmed for sale.

The milk house is open every day from 7:00 to 19:00, with payment by card, and you tap the raw milk yourself.

The farm runs trials on its own land with herb-rich grassland sown from coated seed, with improving the soil by compost and with a nature-inclusive practice field.
