Bijmegen Stadsimkerij
Bijmegen is the city beekeeper of Nijmegen, keeping honeybee colonies in the centre of town and selling their honey as Nijmegen city honey.
The hives stand on the roof of the city hall and on the Honigcomplex, among other places, and the bees forage up to 3 km around them in the city parks, on balconies and in street trees and shrubs. The honey is sold as honey from these Nijmegen colonies; their website does not mention honey bought in from elsewhere.
You can buy the honey through their webshop or at stockists in and around Nijmegen: Café Eten en Drinken in Malden, Lent and Nijmegen, Het Theezaakje, Pater Deli, Streekbakker Jorrit, Lunchcafé Wijck and Regio Oost. They also sell at markets and events, and people who sponsor a colony receive honey from it every year. There is no sale from the beekeeper's own address.
Besides the city hives, they place colonies on company roofs and industrial estates, and work with the municipality, residents and businesses to replace paving with flowers and plants.
