Practices beyond what our criteria ask for. What counts
In their words · translated
“Met onze vrijwilligers telen we jaarrond meer dan honderd verschillende groenterassen, zonder gebruik van gewasbeschermingsmiddelen, zo circulair mogelijk en met respect voor de biodiversiteit”
With our volunteers we grow more than a hundred different vegetable varieties all year round, without the use of crop-protection products, as circularly as possible and with respect for biodiversity
“Je vindt er ook onze kraam met verse oogst en onze inmaakkast; een kast vol lekkers, allemaal gemaakt van onze onbespoten oogst”
You will also find our stall with fresh harvest and our preserves cupboard; a cupboard full of good things, all made from our unsprayed harvest
They also make
cut flowers (pluktuin, onbespoten, from organic seed), vegetable and garden plants from organic seed

De Warmoes is a historic market garden on the Griftdijk in Lent, across the Waal from Nijmegen, run as a non-profit foundation that keeps alive the way Lent's warmoezeniers (market gardeners who supplied the city) used to grow.

Two coordinators and more than 80 volunteers grow over a hundred vegetable varieties through the year, including old ones, without crop-protection products and as circularly as they can, and there is a standard-tree orchard as well. What can be harvested changes through the season and quantities are small, because the garden grows many varieties rather than a lot of a few. The preserves in the shop are all made from the garden's own unsprayed harvest, and the shop also sells vegetable and garden plants raised in the greenhouse from organic seed.

The garden, shop and café are open all year from Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 17:00. From late April volunteers set out fresh produce on the stall, an old Lent market cart, and in the harvest season you can pick the vegetables, fruit and berries marked with a red flag yourself, collecting tools and a basket in the shop first and paying in the museum or at the café bar.

The garden still uses historic methods such as hotbeds (broeibakken), forcing frames warmed from below.
