De Broodbakkers Rotterdam Lusthofstraat
De Broodbakkers on the Lusthofstraat in Kralingen is one of the Rotterdam shops of a bakery, started in 2015, that bakes all its bread in Bergen op Zoom from its own sourdough culture.
The bread starts with wheat from one farmer in Oude Tonge on Goeree-Overflakkee, which is dried and then milled into flour by the miller in Ouddorp, which keeps the chain from field to loaf short. The sourdough culture is fed every day and ferments for at least 20 hours before it goes into a dough. The permanent range is all sourdough (desem): white, wholemeal, multiseed and maize loaves from the Flakkee flour, several spelt loaves, a multigrain and a low-carbohydrate loaf. Baguettes, eierkoeken (soft egg buns), butter croissants and sausage rolls are made with the same dough, sourdough and flour, and the shop also sells pastry.
There is no ordering online; you buy in the shop at Lusthofstraat 63, or at the second Rotterdam shop on the Bergse Dorpstraat in Hillegersberg.
