De Gieterij
- Zero waste
De Gieterij is a package-free shop on the Junusstraat in Wageningen with a full grocery range, where farmers, bakers and other makers from the surrounding area deliver fresh produce to the shelves.
The cheese comes from named farms: raw-milk Remeker cheese from De Groote Voort in Lunteren, made with a natural rind from the milk of the farm's own Jersey cows, which graze grass-clover pasture, in ages from two months to thirteen; cheese and meat from De Hooilanden, a dairy and care farm in the Binnenveld of Bennekom; goat cheese from De Groote Stroe, where the goats are out on grass-clover almost all year; and hard sheep cheese from De Zeekraal on Terschelling, whose milking sheep graze herb-rich fields year-round. Their website describes all of these farms as organic. Eggs come from Boerderij van Steenbergen in Bennekom, cream and butter from Veld en Beek when available, flour and oat flakes from the De Vlijt windmill in Wageningen, and sourdough from Ivo's bakery in Wageningen and Jorisbrood in Ede. Meat is sold frozen, from local farms the website doesn't name.
The shop is open Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 to 18:00 and on Saturday from 9:00 to 17:00. Jorisbrood arrives on Wednesdays around 11:00, and a loaf can be reserved by phone.
Nuts and seeds arrive in 25 kg sacks and are sold loose, along with grains, pulses, oils and cleaning products.
