StreekWaar stall at the Wageningen market on Saturday

The Kombucha Masters is a small kombucha brewery that began among students in Wageningen and now brews in a workshop in Rhenen, as part of Stadsbrouwerij Rhenen since 2024, with the bottles distributed locally in Wageningen.

There are six kombuchas: plain green tea, a natural version with no added flavourings, and hibiscus, lavender, rose and ginger-lemon. All are brewed on green tea, and the ingredients that can't be sourced locally, such as the tea, sugar, hibiscus, ginger and lemons, are bought organic, according to their website; other ingredients come through members of the StreekWaar cooperative. The kombucha is sold raw, which means it isn't pasteurised and still contains its live bacteria and yeasts, so it has to be kept cold or it keeps fermenting in the bottle.

You can buy it at the StreekWaar stall on the Wageningen Saturday market on the Raadhuisplein, from 9:00 to 17:00, and in the webshop of Stadsbrouwerij Rhenen. It is also stocked by De Gieterij and De Hoge Born in Wageningen and Boerderij Het Binnenveld in Rhenen.

The bottles carry a deposit and are washed and refilled in the workshop, and 70 to 80 percent of them come back.
