De Tuinderij, Pro Persona Wolfheze
- Organic methods: no synthetic pesticides or fertiliser, not certified
De Tuinderij is a market garden and plant nursery on the grounds of the Pro Persona mental-health care centre in Wolfheze, run as part of a day-activity programme in which clients sow, take cuttings, pot up, harvest and look after the plants.
Vegetables and fruit grow in the gardens and greenhouses without synthetic fertiliser or pesticides, and their website describes them as unsprayed and grown by organic methods (biologisch), though the garden holds no organic certificate. Garden and house plants and flowers for picking are grown there too.
You can harvest or pick for yourself in the greenhouse, the cut-flower garden or the vegetable garden, or buy straight from the small shop, Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 16:00. The grounds have several buildings, and their website has a route description with a map showing where De Tuinderij is.
Customers harvest alongside the clients of the day programme, and staff are on hand to help.
