“The farm cheese is made from unpasteurized milk”

Kaasboerderij Janmaat is a dairy farm on the Barwoutswaarder outside Woerden where the fresh milk of the farm's own herd of about 70 cows is made into boerenkaas (raw-milk farm cheese).

The cheese is made from unpasteurised milk, and besides plain boerenkaas there are versions with cumin, fenugreek, paprika and herbs. The farm may also sell meat, which we haven't confirmed.

The cheese is sold from the shop at the farm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 to 18:00, and closed on Wednesdays. It is also on the farm's stalls at the Streekmarkt in the centre of Woerden every Saturday from 9:00 to 15:00, at the farmers' market on the Haarlemmerplein in Amsterdam every Wednesday from 10:00 to 17:30, and at the farmers' market on the Buikslotermeerplein in Amsterdam on Saturdays from 10:00 to 17:00.

The farm offers tours and cheese tastings.
