Korenmolen De Hoop
Korenmolen De Hoop is a working corn mill on the Stadsspui in Bunschoten-Spakenburg, rebuilt in 2009, which grinds flour for bakeries and sells flour and meal to the public in a shop at its base.
The shop's list runs from the mill's own dark wholemeal, Bunschoter donker, and a fibre-rich mill-bread meal to wholemeal wheat from Dutch grain, wholemeal spelt, rye flour and rye meal, buckwheat, maize meal, a light multigrain, white wheat and spelt flour, bran and pancake mixes, with cake mixes and yeast besides. Two of the wheat flours on the list are marked organic (bio), and the windmill grinds regularly and sells its flour directly. Which of the flours are ground at the mill and which are bought in, we couldn't confirm.
The shop is open on Wednesday and Saturday, from 10:00 to 17:00 in summer and until 16:00 in winter, and on those days you can usually see the mill working and, when he has time, hear the miller explain it. Bakeries can order through a form on the foundation's website.
