Melktap Hoogland-West, Meer dan alleen melk!
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
Melktap Hoogland-West is a self-service farm shop at a dairy farm in Hoogland, near Amersfoort, where a father and son sell raw milk from their own cows and beef from their own cattle.
The milk is sold raw and only cooled, and what isn't sold at the farm goes to FrieslandCampina under the On the way to PlanetProof scheme; whether the dairy cows graze, and for how long, is not stated. The beef comes from their own Belgian Blue crosses, which according to their website graze outside as much as possible on a diet mainly of grass. Only the burgers and sausages are seasoned; the rest of the meat is sold unprocessed, in 10 kg packages bought as a share of a cow, fresh and unpacked when the animal is slaughtered or frozen in tubs at any time, and the mixed package includes marrow bones and shin. The cheese, butter and yoghurt from Top Zuivel in Kootwijkerbroek, ice cream from Leusden and juice and jam from Kraggenburg are bought in, and the eggs come from barn hens (scharrel) in Soest, so we do not credit them here.
The shop and its vending machine are open every day from 7:30 to 19:30, and meat packages are ordered through their website.
