LOOS
- Organic methods: no synthetic pesticides or fertiliser, not certified
- Zero waste
LOOS is a package-free grocer in Utrecht that started in 2021 with a cargo bike and now drives an electric sales van called Sparky to fixed stops around the city, alongside its own shop, PUUR&LOOS, on the Burgemeester Reigerstraat.
The range is more than 170 organic, plant-based products from over fifteen suppliers, sourced as locally as possible, and the shop is certified organic (SKAL) under the name PUUR & LOOS; we found it in the register at this address. For a kitchen that cooks from scratch that means grains and pulses such as buckwheat, millet, lentils and split peas, spelt flour, nuts and seeds, cold-pressed sesame oil, olive oil, Celtic and Atlantic sea salt, a long list of dried herbs and spices, teas and coffee, plus washing-up liquid and other cleaning products from the tap. You bring your own jars, bags or tins and fill them, so nothing comes in throwaway packaging.
You can visit the shop, find the van at one of its stops, or book an appointment for the van to come to your street. The shop is open Monday from 10:30 to 18:00, Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 to 19:00, Saturday from 9:00 to 18:00 and Sunday from 12:00 to 16:00.
LOOS isn't a delivery service: the van parks at a stop and the neighbours come out to it.
