Pluk! Groenten van West
- Organic methods: no synthetic pesticides or fertiliser, not certified
Pluk! Groenten van West is a self-harvest vegetable garden for members in the orchard of Fruittuin van West in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, run by Cityplot, a collective of professional urban growers, educators and permaculture designers.
The garden grows vegetables and herbs in the 6.5-hectare orchard, and the vegetables growing there may only be harvested by members of Pluk. Pluk describes its gardens as organic (biologisch); the organic and Demeter certificates we found at this address are held in the name of Fruittuin van West, the biodynamic orchard around the garden, rather than the CSA.
Joining means becoming a member rather than buying a box: members come to the garden at its opening times and harvest the vegetables and herbs themselves. Cityplot runs a second garden, Pluk! Boterbloem, at Ecologische Boerderij de Boterbloem on the Lutkemeerweg, and because the two gardens differ in opening hours, harvest system and prices, their website advises looking at both before choosing.
