Zorgboerderij Ons Verlangen
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
- No synthetic pesticides or fertiliser (certified)
Ons Verlangen is an organic dairy and care farm of about 70 hectares at Zunderdorp, in the peat meadows on the edge of Amsterdam, that sells its own dairy from a farm vending machine.
Since 2015 the farm has had its own dairy, where the milk of its cows, which graze on grass with a small amount of organic feed pellets, is made into pasteurised milk, buttermilk, yoghurt, quark (kwark), butter and farm cheese (boerenkaas). The machine also sells cow and goat cheeses, organic eggs, meat, home-made jam, onions and potatoes; where the eggs and meat come from we couldn't confirm. The farm is certified organic (SKAL); we found the certificate in the register under Melkveehouderij Ons Verlangen B.V. at the farm's address on the Broekergouw.
The vending machine at Liergouw 68 is open every day from 8:00 to 20:00, and on weekdays between 9:30 and 14:30 staff or care clients are there to help. The dairy also reaches shops such as Landmarkt De Wou and the Vokomokum food cooperative, delivered by refrigerated van.
Besides the dairy cows the farm keeps sheep, horses, chickens, goats, rabbits and pigs, and around 40 care clients (hulpboeren) share the daily work with the family, including the upkeep of nature land around Zunderdorp.
