Asperges van de Eng is a small organic asparagus farm on the Oude Diedenweg in Wageningen, where asparagus has grown on the historic Wageningse Eng fields since 2002, harvested almost daily by the founder with a small team of students and others keen on farming.

The farm grew out of the work of Stichting De Wageningse Eng, which aims to bring more biodiversity to these old arable fields. White asparagus is grown under black or white sheeting to keep out the light, and green asparagus on flat ground without cover; the deep water table lets the long roots grow down freely. They sell green asparagus, white asparagus in four thickness grades and broken white pieces for soup. The farm is certified organic (SKAL); we found it in the register.

Asparagus is sold from mid-April to the end of June at a stall under the carport at the house, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 16:00 to 19:00 and on Saturday from 14:00 to 17:00. Orders placed through the form on their website at least a day ahead are set aside for collection in those hours. The asparagus also goes to local restaurants and is sold through De Hoge Born.

Whatever isn't sold goes to the food bank, so little is wasted.
