Bakker Hilvers
Bakker Hilvers in Oosterbeek is one of 20 shops of an Arnhem bakery that traces its roots to 1767, supplied each day from two central bakeries in Presikhaaf and Velp.
The bakeries make more than 100 kinds of bread and rolls every night, and many products are finished in floor ovens in the shops themselves. The bakery works with Dutch grain, including Nedertarwe wheat, and says it is the only baker in the region to do so. Their website calls the Velp bakers their sourdough (desem) specialists, but it doesn't say which breads are sourdough, how long the doughs ferment, or whether the sourdough loaves reach the Oosterbeek shop. Spelt bread is also on the range.
The Oosterbeek shop on the Utrechtseweg has been open since 2020 and opens Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 17:30 and Saturday from 8:00 to 17:00. Bread can also be ordered through their webshop and collected in the shop.
The bakery chooses regional ingredients where it can and offers work-and-learn places for vulnerable people.
