Boerderij de Muiderhof is an organic beef farm on the Dijkweg in Muiden, converted from the family dairy farm in 2002, where a herd of Brandrode cattle grazes peat meadows and the beef is sold in packages.
The farm began with Blonde d'Aquitaine cattle, but they did not do well on peat, so from 2018 the herd was switched to Brandrode, an old Dutch breed that thrives on it. According to their website no synthetic fertiliser or chemical sprays are used, so the meadows carry herbs, clover and flowers; the cattle are not vaccinated or treated preventively, they get organic feed, the calves stay with their mothers for at least eight months, and the cows go out to pasture in summer and move loose through the barn in winter. The farm is certified organic (SKAL, NL-BIO-01.528-0003900.2026.006); we found it in the register.
About twice a year the beef is sold frozen in 5 kg and 10 kg packages. The 5 kg pack holds steaks, entrecote, braising and stewing cuts, schnitzels, mince, shin, hamburgers and sausages, and the 10 kg pack adds roast beef, a rolled roast and oxtail. In October 2026 their website listed no meat in stock and asked buyers to email for the mailing list.
With the farmers' nature association De Vechtvallei they protect meadow-bird nests and mow late, so the chicks keep the cover of uncut grass for longer.
