Boerderij De StadsHoeve is a biodynamic dairy farm in Zunderdorp, on the edge of Amsterdam, that sells raw milk and eggs from a self-service hut by its car park.
The milk comes from thirty Dutch cows (Hollandse koeien) milked every day, which are outside for most of the year and come into the barn only for milking; in winter they are housed on straw. The farm says they eat mostly grass, hay and silage with some concentrates or grain, and that all feed is organic and GM-free. The farm has been biodynamic for decades, and the grassland grows herbs and flowers as well as grass. The milk is sold raw, straight from the tap, and keeps three days in the fridge at home; their website suggests it for drinking or for making your own yoghurt and cheese. The eggs come from their own hens. The farm is certified organic (SKAL) and Demeter-certified (NL-110270); we found both in the registers.
The wooden hut with the milk tap stands in the front garden by the car park at Zunderdorpergouw 29 and is refilled with fresh milk every day. Bring your own bottle or jerrycan and the exact money for the milk; eggs can be paid in cash or by Tikkie.
The 200 hens are free range (egg code 1): they range over the meadows by day and spend the night in a mobile henhouse. The farm describes its farming as regenerative and nature-inclusive.
