De Groene Weg Arnhem is an organic butcher's shop on the Steenstraat in Arnhem, part of the De Groene Weg chain, selling fresh beef and pork alongside sausages and cured hams.
The regional farms named on their website are those of the Rouwhorst and Hahné families and Natuurcentrum Arnhem, whose cattle graze about 80 hectares of land managed with nature in mind; their website does not say which farm supplies which meat. The butcher says the animals can go outside whenever they want, have more room and can behave naturally, and that the chain farms, slaughters and butchers the way it used to be done. Besides fresh cuts the counter carries cooked sausage and hams such as boerenachterham (farmhouse ham). The shop is certified organic (SKAL); we found its certificate in the register.
The shop is open Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 to 18:00 and on Saturday from 8:30 to 16:30. It is not part of the chain's national webshop and does not deliver, but you can order by phone or email and collect at the shop.
The names of that week's supplying farmers are written on the counter, so you can ask which farm your meat came from.
