Hof van Geervliet Biologisch melkveebedrijf zorgboerderij
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
- No synthetic pesticides or fertiliser (certified)
Hof van Geervliet is an organic dairy farm on the Polderweg in Geervliet, with 115 milking cows on 60 hectares of mostly grassland, which sells frozen beef from its own cattle.
The beef comes from a cross of Belgian Blue with their own dairy cows, and the farm keeps the animals from birth until they become meat; the cows usually calve naturally, and the beef cattle are outside during the grazing season and given time to grow. The farm is certified organic (SKAL); we found the certificate at their address, registered to the family partnership that runs Hof van Geervliet. The meat is frozen and vacuum-packed in portions for one to four. There are packs of 5 or 10 kg, of which about a fifth is premium cuts such as steak, entrecôte and rolled roast, with stewing beef, burgers, sausages and mince making up the rest, and you can also choose single cuts, down to marrow bones, oxtail, shin and soup meat for stock.
The meat is sold to order only: you call or message the farm, from a single piece upward, and collect it at the farm.
The farm works on meadow-bird protection, herb-rich grassland, nature-friendly ditch banks, bird hedges and nest sites for barn owls and swallows, and aims to be self-sufficient in feed and energy through partnerships in the region.
