BesTFruit
- Organic methods: no synthetic pesticides or fertiliser, not certified
BesTFruit is a fruit and vegetable grower with an orchard on the Oude Kadesedijk in Abbenbroek, on Voorne-Putten, that specialises in fruit you rarely see in supermarkets alongside raspberries and redcurrants.
The orchard grows Japanese wineberries, kiwiberries, physalis, goji berries, gooseberries, blackberries, currants, apples, pears and grapes, plus green beans, runner beans, tomatoes and fresh garlic, and turns some of the fruit into their own juices and jams. Their website says everything is certified organic and carries the EU organic logo, and that no chemical pesticides or synthetic fertiliser are used on the clay soil, which is fed with organic nutrients and otherwise left undisturbed as much as possible. The shop also sells eggs and honey, not yet confirmed as their own, and ice cream made by De IJsboerin.
The shop at the orchard is open on Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00 during the season, which in 2026 began on 6 June. Their fruit is also sold at De Buytenhof in Rhoon, Boerderijwinkel Zevenbergen in Zuidland, Hoeve Biesland in Delfgauw, De Vlierstee in Vierpolders and 't Zwaantje in Hellevoetsluis, and through Rechtstreex and Odin.
The land is shared with birds, butterflies and insects, and their website credits the greater diversity of life in the soil for crops that stand up better to disease and extreme weather.
