Kwekerij Wiering
- No synthetic pesticides or fertiliser (certified)
Kwekerij Wiering is an organic plant nursery on the Tom Schreursweg in Amsterdam-West, started in January 2013, which grows bamboo, ornamental grasses, perennials and culinary herb plants in pots. It is in this guide for the herb plants alone.
According to their website the plants are raised in organic potting compost from Bio-kultura without chemical pesticides, and where pests need controlling, ladybird larvae from Rood met Zwarte Stippen are used instead. The nursery is certified organic (SKAL, NL-BIO-01.528-0004002.2026.002); we found it in the register. Which herbs are sold, and in which months, we couldn't confirm. The nursery is open Thursday to Sunday from 11:00 to 16:00.
The plants are grown without the synthetic fertiliser that, their website argues, forces plants on and leaves them open to aphids and mould, so they establish better once in the ground.
