Lekkernassûh
- Zero waste
Lekkernassûh is a volunteer-run foundation (stichting) in Den Haag that sells weekly vegetable and fruit boxes at four Wednesday markets, with a package-free shop on Saturdays.
The vegetable box holds at least seven kinds of vegetable from growers including Hoeve Biesland in Delfgauw, the regenerative market garden WIJdehorst in Wassenaar and Be Leaf in 's-Gravenzande. Their website says all the vegetables are grown without pesticides and that some of the growers are certified organic. The fruit box holds about 2.5 kg of fruit, organic according to their website, from Kievit in Katwijk, which buys Dutch fruit where it can and otherwise imports it from elsewhere in Europe or beyond. The markets also sell bread, cheese and eggs.
You register on their website and confirm by 20:00 on Sunday whether you'll collect a box that Wednesday. The main market is at De Gymzaal, Witte de Withstraat 127, from 15:00 to 19:00. The package-free shop there opens on Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:30; you bring your own jars for nuts, rice and other dry goods. You can also pay in Timebank hours, earned by helping at a market or in the shop.
The foundation agrees in advance with several of its growers which vegetables each will grow, based on expected demand, so the two share the risk of a poor harvest.
