louf
louf is a sourdough bakery and coffee bar on the Bilderdijkstraat in Amsterdam Oud-West, the first of its four locations in the city.
The sourdough loaves are shaped by hand every day and left to rise for 18 to 20 hours, and the same bakers make baguettes, croissants and other pastries; this shop is known for its range of pastries. Which mill the flour comes from, and whether any baker's yeast goes into the loaves, is not yet confirmed.
The Oud-West shop is open every day from 8:00 to 15:00, with a long bench outside and a shelf of cookbooks inside. louf also has a shop with a terrace on the Nicolaas Berchemstraat in De Pijp and two take-away counters, one beside the De Otter windmill at the edge of the Jordaan and one on the Wittenkade by Westerpark.
All of louf's bread is baked at the Westerpark location, where you can watch the bakers at work from the counter.
