Melktap De Hoef
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
Melktap De Hoef is a dairy farm on the Oostzijde in De Hoef, where the fourth generation of the family keeps 110 dairy cows and sells their milk from a self-service tap together with dairy made on the farm.
The tap milk has nothing added or taken out; their website does not say whether it is raw or pasteurised. Since 2022 the farm has made its own dairy from the whole milk: buttermilk churned the traditional way, with farm butter (boerenroomboter) as the by-product, plain and flavoured yoghurt, hangop (strained yoghurt), custard (vla) and kefir. The cheese is made by other cheese farmers and resold, and eggs are sold from a machine, not yet confirmed. The cows graze outside from April to October.
The tap and the dairy machines at Oostzijde 115 are open every day from 7:30 to 21:00, and from April to October a soft-serve and milkshake tap made from the farm's milk opens from 10:00 to 22:00. The dairy is also sold at nine farm shops and outlets in the region, including in Mijdrecht, Vinkeveen and Hoofddorp.
The cows are milked by two robots, so each cow decides for herself when to be milked, and they eat roughage grown on the farm's own land.
