Molen De Kroon
Molen De Kroon is a windmill in the Klarendal district of Arnhem where volunteer millers grind grain on millstones for the mill's own shop whenever there is enough wind.
The shop sells this stone-ground meal and flour alongside a wider range of flours that are not milled traditionally, and the price list, which covers wholemeal wheat, spelt, rye, maize and buckwheat among others, does not mark which is which. The mill's own flour contains no preservatives, so it keeps about six months and is best used within three, stored cool and dry in its paper bag. There are also pancake and cake mixes, oats, muesli and honey.
The mill and its shop are open on Friday afternoons from 13:00 to 16:00 and on Saturdays from 11:00 to 15:00, 200 metres from Arnhem Velperpoort station, and visitors can go inside the mill during those hours.
All proceeds from the shop go to the upkeep of the mill.
