Molenplaats Sonsbeek is Natuurcentrum Arnhem's visitor centre on the edge of Park Sonsbeek, where De Witte Watermolen, a water mill that has ground grain since the fifteenth century, still mills flour.
The mill is driven by the water of the Sint Jansbeek and also supplies flour to bakeries in and around Arnhem, among them Bakkerista. Their website says the mill is SKAL-certified and also grinds organic flour; what qualifies it here is the milling itself, done by the water of the Sint Jansbeek. Their website does not say where the grain comes from or which of the products are milled here rather than bought in.
Flour, bread mixes and cake mixes are sold in the Molenschuur at Zijpendaalseweg 24A. The mill itself is open on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 16:00 and Sundays from 12:00 to 16:00, when the millers show visitors the wooden wheels and shafts at work.
