Pluk! Boterbloem CSA
- Organic methods: no synthetic pesticides or fertiliser, not certified
- No ploughing
Pluk! Boterbloem is a self-harvest vegetable garden on the grounds of the Ecologische Boerderij de Boterbloem in the Lutkemeerpolder, Amsterdam West, where members come every week from May to November to pick their own vegetables, herbs and flowers.
The garden is run by Cityplot, a collective of urban growers and permaculture designers. According to their website everything is grown without pesticides, synthetic fertiliser, fungicides or genetic modification. Their website lists SKAL certification; the certificate we found in the register at this address is in the name of the host farm, Ecologische Boerderij De Boterbloem.
Joining means buying one harvest share (oogstaandeel) for each person in the household, paid once a year for the whole season; children up to six take part free. The price is income-based, so those who can pay more make room for those who can pay less. Each week the growers say what is ready and how to pick it, and members harvest on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 13:00 to 20:00, Fridays from 11:00 to 18:00 and Saturdays from 9:00 to 17:00. The 2026 season is full, and the waiting list for 2027 is joined by email.
No tractors go onto the fields: the permanent beds are worked mostly with hand tools in a low-till system, which means less soil compaction and better soil structure.
