Polak's Tuinderij
- Organic methods: no synthetic pesticides or fertiliser, not certified
Polak's Tuinderij is a farm shop and greengrocer on the Albrandswaardsedijk in Poortugaal which has its own market garden and sells its own vegetables alongside produce bought in from the region and beyond.
In the weekly offers on their website, crops from their own land are marked as such, and some of them are labelled unsprayed (onbespoten): in early October 2026 that meant palm cabbage (palmkool), harvested fresh every day, pumpkins of several kinds and flat-leaf parsley, while the onions were from their own land without that label. Whether artificial fertiliser is used is not stated. Apples and pears come from an orchard in Albrandswaard that their website does not name. Much of the rest of the range is bought in, from potatoes from Zeeland and the Hoeksche Waard to citrus, mango and kiwi, along with farm dairy and a raw-milk cheese, Boerenblos from the Noordam family in Hellouw, which we did not check.
The shop is open Monday to Saturday, and its weekly offers go out in a newsletter on Monday evenings.
The shop buys directly from a network of local growers and producers, so less of what it sells passes through wholesalers.
