Renkumse Molen
- No synthetic pesticides or fertiliser (certified)
The Renkumse Molen is a windmill from 1858 on the Molenweg in Renkum, run entirely by volunteers, which stood without sails from the Second World War until its restoration in 2013 and has been able to grind grain again since early 2014.
The shop under the mill sells a long list of flours: wholemeal and white wheat, spelt, buckwheat, semolina, bran and pizza flour, with organic (BIO) wholemeal wheat, white wheat, wholemeal rye and rye flour among them. There are also bread, cake and pancake mixes, oats, muesli and seeds, the Renkums Molenbrood loaf on Saturdays only, and honey, homemade jam and organic Schulp juices. Their website doesn't say which of these flours are ground in this mill. The mill is certified organic (SKAL); we found it in the register under the foundation that runs it, at this address.
The shop is open Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:00, when you pay in the neighbouring pet shop De Molen, and on Saturdays from 10:00, when volunteers staff the shop and show visitors the mill. Larger quantities can be ordered by email and collected, but nothing is shipped. Around New Year the mill takes orders for oliebollen (Dutch New Year doughnuts) to collect on 29, 30 or 31 December.
All the money from the shop goes to the upkeep of the mill.
