Van de Kletersteeg
Van de Kletersteeg is a family bakery, in its 65th year in 2026, with a shop on the Nieuweweg in Laren, which bakes a range of sourdough (desem) breads without bread or flour improvers.
The breads in what they call their 0.0 range are all vegan and made from flour, bran, wheat germ, water, house-made sourdough starter and salt, with 0.5% yeast added alongside a high proportion of sourdough, and each dough gets 18 to 24 hours to rise and be worked. The Volkoren is 100% wholemeal, the Hooglander (also sold as Gooisch volkoren) is 90% wholemeal with 10% seeds and grains, Blond and Trippel are multigrain breads with 25% wholemeal and ten kinds of seeds and grains, and Wit uses a white flour blend made for the bakery. The rolls from the same doughs are baked on the stone oven floor. The flour is free of added E-numbers and traceable to the field, and blends North American, Canadian and European wheats.
The shop opens Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 to 14:00 and on Saturday from 8:00 to 17:00. Their website also mentions a small market on some days in the yard beside their bakery in Hoogland, with a greengrocer, cheese sellers and a butcher.
The bakery generates about a fifth of its own electricity from 113 solar panels on its roof.
