Voedselbos Huizen
Voedselbos Huizen is a public food forest in the Stadspark of Huizen, next to the children's farm, planted and looked after by a volunteer foundation since 2023.
The first section covers 1.1 hectares between the footpaths that run parallel to the Randweg, and a second section of 0.9 hectares is being developed towards the Gooilandweg. Because the planting is young, the harvest is still limited. Anyone may walk in and pick, for their own use and no more than two handfuls, so that enough is left for other people and for wildlife; visitors are asked to stay on the paths and keep dogs on a lead. There is nothing to buy. You can also join the volunteer days, and the forest takes part in the national Open Voedselbossendag each September.
In the dry summer of 2026 volunteers laid sheep's wool and mulch around almost every tree and watered them well to keep the young planting going.
