VisOnline.nl is an online fishmonger working from a unit at Woeziksestraat 622 in Wijchen, whose Zeeland mussels and Zeeland creuse oysters are the products that pass our fish bar.
The mussels are blue mussels (Mytilus edulis) from FAO area 27, Zeeland, sold fresh in two-kilo trays in three size grades, and their website explains that they are farmed on the seabed of the Oosterschelde and harvested after about two years, with hanging-culture mussels available earlier in the season; the mussel season runs from early July to mid-April. The oysters are Pacific creuse (Crassostrea gigas), also from Zeeland and finished in Yerseke, sold by the dozen or 25 in two sizes. Both are farmed shellfish, which is why they qualify; the farms or fishers are not named. The rest of the range, some 239 items of fresh and frozen fish bought daily at the auction, smoked fish, shellfish, sushi and salads, including imported farmed fish such as barramundi and dorade, we have not verified.
Orders are placed through the webshop and either collected at the Wijchen unit or delivered in the firm's own refrigerated vans Tuesday to Saturday across the Nijmegen region, including Arnhem, Beuningen, Boxmeer, Cuijk, Druten, Groesbeek, Oss, Uden and Wijchen; a postcode check on their website shows whether an address is covered. Orders placed after 15:00 move to the next delivery day.
