Landgoedwinkel Heerlijkheid Leur
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
Landgoedwinkel Heerlijkheid Leur is the shop of the Leur estate near Wijchen, in the Land van Maas en Waal, and sells the beef of the estate's own Aberdeen Angus herd.
Angus cattle have been kept on the estate's farm since 1994, and no other breed. Their website describes the farm as deliberately small and extensive, with no long transport of the animals, no factory feed and no cattle kept indoors all year while the fields stand empty; whether they are out all year round we couldn't confirm. After slaughter the meat is aged for a long time and then quick-frozen in vacuum-packed portions. It is sold in packages (a small mixed one of 5 kg, and 4 kg packages for stewing, with shin, for prime cuts, for barbecuing and as an introduction), and loose as rump cap, bavette, tongue, oxtail, hanger steak and the everyday cuts. The shop also sells other regional products, not yet confirmed.
The shop, De Boswinkel, is open on Friday and Saturday from 13:00 to 16:00 and takes card payment. Meat packages can also be ordered through the form on their website, and when the shop is closed you can call or email.
The cattle graze the estate's meadows, which are full of herbs and clover.
