Vleit Boerderijautomaat x De IJsvogel
- Pigs and poultry live free range: outdoors on pasture, in woodland or a run
This is one of the egg vending machines of Vleit, a laying-hen farm and egg-packing station in Voorthuizen run by the second and third generation of one family, and it stands at the De IJsvogel holiday park on the Kieftveen.
Vleit sells free-range eggs from its own hens, collected, sorted and packed every morning. The hens live in an aviary-system barn from which they can go outside, and they get the same feed every day with extra maize. Their website also mentions free-range eggs bought in from the region, and the farm keeps barn hens indoors, whose eggs aren't included here. Which other products are stocked in this machine is not yet confirmed; the main machine at the farm also sells cheese, egg pasta made with Vleit eggs on a farm in Twente, fruit juice and gift boxes.
Vleit says its machines are filled daily and open 24 hours a day. Whether the machine at De IJsvogel can be used by people who aren't staying at the holiday park is not yet confirmed, so the machine at the farm on the Lankerenseweg in Voorthuizen is the surer place to buy.
Keeping the hens and packing the eggs on the same farm means the eggs go straight to machines in the region.
