Batard Bakery
Batard Bakery is a micro-bakery in the Leusderkwartier of Amersfoort, run by a brother and sister with a team of bakers, where sourdough is shaped by hand in the manner of a French boulangerie.
According to their website the bread needs nothing more than flour, water, salt and a long time. Every day there is pain de campagne, pain aux graines and pain complet, with a different extra loaf each day, from an oatmeal porridge bread on Wednesday to pavé, batard, fougasse and baguettes on Saturday, alongside croissants, biscuits and cakes. Which mill supplies the flour we couldn't confirm.
The shop at Miereveldstraat 72, in the restored school building Huis Miereveld, is open Wednesday to Saturday from 8:30 to 16:00, and orders are taken by phone during opening hours rather than by app or direct message. Their website announces a move to Leusderweg 155 for October or November 2026, so the address should be checked before visiting.
The sourdough loaves are naturally risen, which means the rise comes from the bakery's own culture and time rather than from added yeast.
