Voedselkollektief Amersfoort
- Organic methods: no synthetic pesticides or fertiliser, not certified
Voedselkollektief Amersfoort is a members' food co-op based at De WAR on the Heiligenbergerweg in Amersfoort, which buys vegetables, fruit, dairy and meat directly from farms and growers within 25 kilometres of the city.
The suppliers named on their website include the care farms De Hondspol in Driebergen, 't Paradijs in Barneveld and De Dijckhof, the Très Jolie fruit garden in De Glind, De Glinstertuin, De Landouw, Stro & Broed in Langbroek, the Eemstadboerderij in Amersfoort and Landgoed Zuylestein in Leersum, whose goat dairy describes itself as organic. According to the co-op, not all of these farms are SKAL-certified, but every one of them grows without synthetic fertiliser or pesticides. The vegetables and fruit are what we credit here; which farms supply the dairy and meat, and how those animals are kept, we have not yet confirmed.
Only members can order. To join, you first come to an information evening, because the co-op wants new members to know how it works before they start; sessions were planned for 13 November 2026 and on 7 January, 5 February, 4 March and 9 April 2027. Members order ahead and collect their produce at De WAR every Thursday evening or Friday morning.
Many small farms find certification too expensive, so the co-op relies instead on close contact with each supplier to know how the food is produced and whether it meets its conditions.
