“dé biologische supermarkt in Culemborg en omstreken”
the organic supermarket in Culemborg and the surrounding area

BijBio Naturijn is an independent organic supermarket on the Prijssestraat in Culemborg, a shop that began as De Wende in 1976 and has been at this address since around 1996.

The shop itself is certified organic (SKAL), and we found it in the register, so everything on the shelves is organic or biodynamic. Fresh sourdough and yeasted bread is baked off every day, and the loaves from KRUIM Natuurbrood, the sourdough bakery in Culemborg, come in on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Local suppliers include the Lindegaard farm in Beusichem, which brings vegetables and regional products from the Betuwe once a week, flour from Molen Johanna, honey from a Culemborg beekeeper and organic eggs from Thomassen. Vegetables come only from Europe, and fruit almost only, apart from bananas and avocados. The chiller holds cow's, goat's and sheep's milk dairy, including kefir from Polderkefir, cheese from De Wilde Weide, and a selection of meat including Demeter meat from Odin.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday, and bread from the bakeries' full ranges can be ordered two working days ahead.

The shop deliberately stocks brands from small family businesses rather than large multinationals, and prefers regional products delivered directly by the people who make them.
